Theo Loves You: A Unique Eyewear Company History

Theo Unique EyewearTheo Eyewear was founded by the opticians Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet. First exhibited at the Paris tradeshow Silmo in 1989, Theo eyewear was designed with the hopes of changing the landscape of spectacles. Wim and Patrick developed their designer eyewear brand with the feeling that eyewear should not only be a necessity, but also a unique art piece. The Theo brand quickly gained recognition in the niche of high-fashion eyewear. While the glasses were only followed by a select group originally, they eventually reach a wider market including the young, self-confident crowd.

The company has continued to grow since its introduction, including the development of the Eye-Witness Collection in 1994. Today, the company has collaborated with multiple designers to manufacture several eyewear lines. At the EYEWEARHAUS, we sell Theo prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. These unique designer frames are ideal for the person who desires eyewear that will add artistic designer touches to the every day.

Theo Eyewear

Theo eyeglasses offer a variety of outrageous and edgy designs. As every Theo frame is handmade in Antwerp, Belgium, these designer glasses are constructed using only the highest quality titanium and acetate. Offering avant-garde design, Theo eyewear provides a unique expression of individualism. With each pair of glasses or sunglasses, Theo attempts to touch their final consumers and always keep their tastes and interests in mind. Staying true to the company slogan “Theo loves you”, each pair of Theo eyeglasses is artfully and uniquely designed so that every person can find the frame that best suits their personality, style, and face. Come in to the EYEWEARHAUS in St. Louis to find the Theo eyewear that is perfect for you.

Eye-Witness Collection by Theo

Unique Designer EyewearThe Eye-Witness collection is a side brand by Theo. These often outrageous, unique eyeglasses are designed solely by Patrick Hoet. Each eyewear model in the Eye-Witness brand is designed to be unique and artistic. A key feature of these eyeglasses is the asymmetry found in each model. The reason for these asymmetrical designs is that eyeglass designer, Patrick Hoet, strives to put his soul into each of these art pieces he creates.

Patrick Hoet, Theo designer, believes that symmetric eyewear frames are created out of convenience, as they are the simplest to manufacture. However, Hoet’s philosophy in creating his Eye-Witness designer eyewear line is that each customer, with the help of his or her optician, can select the frame that fits in harmony with his or her individual face. Consequently, this implies that not all of the Eye-Witness eyeglass frames are created for every face. Therefore, the Eye-Witness line of eyeglasses recognizes that each of us is unique and deserves the frame, which is ideal for our face and style.

Theo Sunglasses

In 2001, at the Mido tradeshow in Milan, a Theo sunglasses collection was released. This sample Theo Sunglass collection was sold for several years. In 2004, Theo eyewear collaborated with Christoph Broich in the development of his Theo Sunglasses line. In more recent years, Theo eyewear also began manufacturing a line of designer sunglasses in partnership with Tim Van Steenbergen, Belgian clothing designer.
